Relato Studio was an inspiration from two creative women that were looking for jewelry with a fit for all philosophy. Originally from Puerto Rico and based in California, their Caribbean roots have influence in all of their designs, as the beach is the most challenging element to protect the jewelry from.
Relato. comes from the Latin meaning storytelling. They believe each piece tells someone's story based on the own experiences and the meaning given to it.
Mother and daughter's journey started in 2023 when visiting markets and stores with affordable jewelry, to end up always disappointed in two important factors:
1. When the jewelry would tarnish or wear-off after a couple of times wearing it, with family members suffering from skin allergies, they set their goals to find the best materials that won't tarnish, waterproof, rust-resistant and, most importantly, hypoallergenic.
2. Versatility, adaptability, and comfortability: As a creative in the corporate entertainment industry, Kristal has always found difficult to find accessories that would complement her daily transitions from work to other social events. What she could find as a fun piece, it wasn't appropriate for an important meeting, therefore, their concept was born out of the necessity of having jewelry that they could easily enhance or turn down the style. Instead of spending time and money in multiple pieces of jewelry, customers can use layered pieces that they can adjust to their needs.

As a creative designer I want to make sure that all pieces have the versatility to be fun and cute, but also chic and classic.
Being a professional woman requires strength, confidence, stubbornness, hard work, and sacrifices to beat the ocean of stigmas against us. Being able to create something that can help other women in their everyday journey to tackle all their multiple roles in life, allows me to be self-conscious of the importance of presenting myself with my utmost self-respect and self-love.

Hola! My name is Maria Pagan, and I am the design maker of Relato Jewelry and Kristal's mother.
After many years in the jewelry industry in my early career as a designer, I had the opportunity to bring my jewelry to the stores of JC Penney Puerto Rico while focusing on women jewelry based in semi-precious stones under my brand name MB designs.
As a crafter, many years later of corporate life, I have the blessing to return to my passion, but this time to create for the empowered women that, like me, are playing many roles while trying to achieve their personal goals, either as a mother, daughter, wife, friend or professional.
